Pulse: A Daylong Health and Wellness Festival at Henry Maier Festival Park

A vibrant celebration of health and wellness is set to take place at Henry Maier Festival Park on September 8, 2023. Pulse, a free community event presented by Aurora Health Care and Milwaukee World Festival Inc., aims to equip attendees with the tools and resources necessary to lead fitter, healthier, and happier lives. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., participants can immerse themselves in a variety of activities designed to promote well-being and community engagement.

A Diverse Array of Activities

Pulse promises an exciting lineup of activities that cater to all ages and interests. Attendees can participate in fitness classes, cooking demonstrations, panel discussions, and engage with numerous vendors and community partners. Whether you are a fitness enthusiast or simply looking to learn more about healthy living, there’s something for everyone at this festival.

One of the highlights of the event is a 30-minute HIIT class led by none other than former Green Bay Packers star and Dancing with the Stars champion, Donald Driver. As the owner of Driven Elite Fitness and Health, Driver brings his expertise and enthusiasm to inspire participants. Additionally, attendees can join a lively Zumba session led by Dominique Johnson from the YMCA, ensuring a fun and energetic atmosphere.

Culinary Delights

Food lovers will not want to miss the Cooking Stage, sponsored by Pick ’n Save, featuring cooking demonstrations by talented Milwaukee area chefs. Notable chefs such as Adam Pawlak from Egg & Flour and Dana Spandet from Flour Girl & Flame will showcase healthy cooking techniques and delicious recipes, making it easier for families to incorporate nutritious meals into their daily routines.

Engaging Panel Discussions

Pulse will also host informative panel discussions focusing on mental health and family wellness. Experts from Aurora Health Care, United Way of Greater Milwaukee and Waukesha County, and Heal Black Men will share valuable insights and strategies for maintaining mental well-being and fostering healthy family dynamics. These discussions aim to empower attendees with knowledge and resources to support their mental health journeys.

Community Involvement and Giveback

In a spirit of community, attendees are encouraged to participate in the Community Giveback initiative. By bringing brand new items such as deodorant, socks, and baby wipes, participants can contribute to hygiene kits that will benefit local organizations like the United Way of Greater Milwaukee and Waukesha County, Kradwell School, and Sojourner Family Peace Center. Aurora Health Care employees will be on-site to pack these kits, aiming to create over 1,000 hygiene kits for those in need.

Interactive Experiences for All Ages

The festival will feature a one-mile family walk organized by Girls on the Run, promoting family bonding and physical activity. Additionally, attendees can explore interactive fitness experiences with local organizations such as Orangetheory Fitness, Wisconsin Athletic Club, and YogaSix, among others. With classes and activities designed for all ages, families can enjoy a day of fun while prioritizing their health.

Entertainment and More

To keep the energy high throughout the day, DJ Shawna will be spinning upbeat tunes at the Aurora Pavilion, creating a lively atmosphere for all attendees. For those interested in pickleball, the Pickleball Village will offer open play, workshops, and coaching, along with vendors selling pickleball merchandise.

Registration and Participation

To ensure a smooth experience, attendees are encouraged to register for the event in advance at Milwaukee World Festival’s Pulse registration page. Onsite registration will also be available. Participants are advised to bring a yoga mat and an empty plastic water bottle to stay hydrated and comfortable during the activities.

Conclusion

Pulse is more than just a festival; it’s a celebration of community, health, and wellness. With a diverse range of activities, expert-led discussions, and opportunities to give back, this event is poised to make a significant impact on the lives of attendees.
